vision and beliefs

our vision

The vision of Greater Works is to raise up committed believers and release them to prepare and equip others to enjoy the abundant life through team ministry based on the demonstration of faith by personal example and the impartation of faith through the teaching and preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ in an atmosphere of unconditional love.

our BELIEFS

GOD

We believe there is one God, Maker of all things, being in trinity the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit (Mt. 28:19|Jn. 15:26|2 Corin. 13:14). Our natural minds may not fully understand this, but we still hold this belief. We recognize that the Holy Spirit is a person, the form of Jesus who is in the Earth today, and we encourage believers to know Him as their best friend.

We believe Jesus Christ, the incarnate Son of God, was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin named Mary, and is true God and true man (Mt. 1:18-25|Lk. 1:27-38). In accordance with 1 Jn. 4:1-3, this belief enables us to differentiate between false religions and true Christianity.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe the baptism in the Holy Spirit, accompanied by the initial sign of speaking in other tongues, as the Spirit of God gives utterance (Acts 1:8|Acts 2:1-4) is distinct from the new birth Experience. Although not a membership requirement, this baptism must be understood and accepted so you will feel comfortable as you see it operate in the services and the life of our church.

We believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit (1 Corin. 12:4-10) are now available to all believers. The gifts are different from the fruit of the Spirit (Gal. 5:22-23) which we receive at salvation, but come as supernatural manifestations or “bursts of power” to meet a need at a particular moment.

SALVATION

We believe there is personal salvation through the shed blood of Jesus Christ (Mt.  26:28, Rev. 1:5). This statement is especially important. Although we may vary in terminology (“born again,” "new birth,” “conversion,” etc.), you must believe in personal salvation through the blood of Jesus and realize that this experience is a prerequisite to church membership.

We believe water baptism, following our conversion, is not a requirement for salvation but is strongly encouraged (Acts 2:38|Rom. 6:3-6).

THE BIBLE

We believe the Bible in its entirety is the inspired Word of God and the infallible rule of faith (Tim. 3:16). “God-breathed,” it has no error and has no book equal to it (Cults replace or equate the Bible with other books.)

HEALING AND DELIVERANCE

We believe there is divine healing, through faith, included in Christ’s atonement for our sins.

We believe the casting out of demons is an essential part of Christ’s commission to His church. Greater Works practices deliverance, binding satan, and setting believers free from demonic strongholds in mind and body.

THE CHURCH

We believe intensive world evangelism and missionary work with signs following is part of the Lord’s Great Commission to the church (Mar. 16:15-20). Greater Works is not a maintenance church but is very missions minded, supporting missionaries and soul-winning teams.

MARRIAGE

We believe marriage is a sacred institution ordained by God (Gn. 2:24). Although this is not a membership requirement, we strongly discourage couples from living together outside of the bond of marriage. We hope that the members of our congregation would make a quality commitment to each other by entering into the covenant of marriage at the earliest possible date (Eph. 5:22-33).

ETERNITY

We believe there will be a resurrection of the dead with eternal happiness for the saved and eternal punishment for the lost (Jn. 3:16-18| Jn. 11:25-26).

We believe the Christian’s hope is the imminent, personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ (1 Thes. 4:16-17| Tit. 2:13). Regarding eschatology (study of the end times), we believe in the occurrence of certain events but take no official stand as to when they occur.
